When searching for creative bridal shower gifts, look beyond the bridal theme. Don’t know where to start? Below are 14 unique and creative bridal shower gift ideas.

1. Personalized Wedding Dress Hanger

The wedding dress is one of the most important garments the bride will ever wear. A personalized hanger is sure to make her happy. To make it extra special, customize the hanger with the bride’s name and cute characters.

2. Wedding Cake Server

A custom cake server is one of the most thoughtful bridal shower gift ideas. This item is also an important accessory for the big day. Any bride who plans to cut a cake will appreciate not having to shop for a server during wedding planning.

3. Personalized Bath Towels

You can never have too many towels. Any bride will love receiving personalized bridal shower gifts like towels. Go for monogrammed cotton towels to make the about-to-be newlyweds feel pampered.

4. Cookware

Is there any piece of cookware the bride-to-be has been eying for a long time? Buy it for her bridal shower. Purchasing wedding shower gifts like cookware follows the traditional bridal shower gifts approach of giving the couple practical items.

5. Wine Bottle Labels

Bottle labels are one of the best wedding shower gift ideas you can purchase.

Turn the bottles of wine to be served at the wedding into keepsakes, with romantic labels featuring the couple’s photograph.

Be sure to get the labels to the wine shop before the wedding date!

6. Champagne Flutes

A flute set is a unique bridal shower gift. It has practical uses during bridal showers, weddings, and beyond. Go for flutes with a love-themed design for maximum effect.

Champagne glasses also work well as a wedding gift.

7. Custom Aprons

Does the bride love to cook or bake? Give her a personalized apron she will treasure.

You can choose from a wide range of aprons featuring witty statements or funny inscriptions. Can’t find options you like? You can buy Ultimate Apron and have an artist put your preferred inscription on the bride’s new apron.

Look for designs with an adjustable neck strap to ensure anyone in the bride’s home can use it.

8. Custom Cutting Board

A cutting board is a gift the bride will use throughout the wedding year and beyond. Leave a cute message or design on it so she’ll always smile when she uses it!

9. Custom Luggage Tags

Consider buying matching suitcase tags. The tags will help the couple keep track of their belongings as they jet off for their honeymoon or future holidays.

It’s no surprise that tags are popular wedding gifts, especially for brides who love to travel!

10. Wine Glasses

Personalized stemware is among the best bridal shower gifts. The bride-to-be will appreciate having glassware that bears her name or signature or is in beautiful colors like rose gold. Whether the bride uses the glasses on special occasions or daily use, they will have a special place in her heart.

11. Mini Emergency Kit in a Box

Do you want the bride to walk down the aisle worry-free? We recommend buying her a bridal shower gift box containing a wedding emergency kit. Include scrunchies, perfumes, jewelry, and candles with a scent inspired by the wedding theme.

The bride will surely appreciate having her emergency kit taken care of before the wedding morning.

12. Photo Frames

You can gift the bride a photo frame to hang up her favorite wedding photo. Look for frames that come with space for a personal note.

Give the bride a brew maker so the newlyweds can enjoy a delicious brew after the special occasion. It’s the best gift for coffee lovers.

14. Personalized Stationery

With the bride searching for wedding inspiration on Pinterest, she may relegate a few items to the background. Replenishing her office stationery stock will surely delight her.

13 Bridal Shower Game Ideas To Amplify Your Event

Bridal Shower Games

A bridal shower is perfect for a bride-to-be and her friends to bond before the big wedding night. Bridal showers can look different for each person, but the point of one is for a bride and the bride’s friends to have a lot of fun.

Our wedding venues are the ideal place to host your bridal shower. With our spacious ballrooms and customizable amenities, our venues can easily be transformed into an inviting space with all the decor needed to make your bridal shower luxurious. With options available to suit any budget or style, you can create a unique and beautiful bridal shower.

While bridal shower games aren’t necessary, they can definitely spice things up. A bridal shower game can help your guests get to know you and each other better. Let’s explore 13 of the best bridal shower game ideas to make your celebration more exciting.

1. Bridal Shower Bingo

Bingo is a straightforward game that’s easy to prepare and is a fun way to add life to the bridal party. Create your traditional bingo cards, but replace the word bingo with the word bride, thus making it the wedding version of bingo.

Your guests guess what gifts the bride will receive. The first one to mark off a line vertically or horizontally will win a prize.

2. Find the Guest

Bridal Shower Game Ideas

This great icebreaker bridal shower game will have guests interacting and learning more about each other. Each guest receives a checklist of facts about other guests in the room. These facts can range from favorite food to more personal facts like someone being married for a long time.

Guests match these facts with someone in the room, causing plenty of conversations in the process.

3. Trivia About the Bride and Groom

13 Bridal Shower Game Ideas To Amplify Your Event

Of course, bridal shower games are also a way to honor the bride and groom. Before the wedding or bride shower, a couple can answer questions like:

  • Their first date
  • How they met
  • Their partner’s favorite hobby
  • Places they’ve visited
  • Favorite love songs

Mix up all the answers while taking out information like pronouns, and pass out all the quotes to the guests. The guests will guess who said what, and whoever matches the most statements correctly will win the game.

4. Two Truths and a Lie

Much of the bridal shower activities involve guests getting to know each other. One way to help guests share truths about themselves is with the fun game “Two Truths and a Lie.”

This game involves each guest coming up with two truths and a lie. The other guests then need to guess which one is the lie.

5. Bridal Jeopardy

Unique bridal shower games include jeopardy but with a fun wedding twist. Create different categories that include questions that guests have to answer in the form of a question.

You can choose traditional categories for the questions, like movies, cities, foods, colors, and books. However, you can also make the game more personal by including wedding-related questions or questions regarding the couple and their love story.

6. Musical Chairs

Sometimes the best bridal shower games played feel like a blast from the past. For example, the concept of musical chairs is very simple. You create a circle with chairs and start playing music.

Everyone gets up and runs around the circle until the music stops, and the guests need to sit in an empty chair quickly. However, you remove a chair each round, putting a guest out of the game.

7. Newlywed Game

While the bridal shower is a fun way for the guests to have fun, it can also be a great chance to put the bride-to-be in the hot seat. This game is part of traditional bridal shower games and involves the bride or groom answering questions about their partner.

The questions can range from light-hearted, like “What is your biggest pet peeve?” to sentimental questions, like “Where did you have your first kiss?”

8. Vow Mad Libs

Bridal Shower Activities

Wedding vows are sacred and can be just as important as any wedding dress or decorations. However, Vow Mad Libs lets your guests poke fun at the concept lightly.

The game works by printing out traditional vows and having each guest choose a unique word for every blank space. The bride reads the hilarious vows at the end, and you can even hold a fake wedding date where the bride shares the vows with their groom.

9. Ring Toss

This ring game requires you to buy plastic rings for every guest to wear. Choose a word that’s forbidden to use, such as “wedding,” “bride,” or “love.” During the evening, if a guest hears another guest say these words, they can take a ring from them.

The one with the most plastic rings at the end of the wedding shower is the winner, and you can even have them win a prize.

10. Where Is the Couple?

You can dig through social media and find many pictures featuring the happy couple. Your guests then need to guess where the couple is at in each photo. You can break the pictures into categories like state, restaurants, or if they’re well-traveled, specific countries.

11. Who Makes the Best Cocktail?

Bridal Shower Game Ideas

Many wedding venues may include an open bar alongside food stations. However, you can set up a bar at the bridal shower. Then you can have teams compete to make a drink for the bride. The bride then chooses her favorite drink of the evening.

12. Guess That Celebrity Couple

Another bridal shower game that is played often is “Guess That Celebrity Couple.” The game works by printing out pictures of a celebrity couple and having your guests guess the names of the famous couple.

Of course, the harder-to-guess couple always ensures the most fun.

13. Wedding Movie Charades

Naturally, there are a lot of wedding movies, including well-known titles like Wedding Crashers.

Label note cards with these wedding movie titles and have your guests act out a scene from the movie without speaking. Their team members then need to guess what wedding movie it is.

9 Unique Wedding Theme Ideas & How To Choose The One That Fits You

Unique Wedding Theme Ideas

If you have started planning a wedding, no doubt you have thought about themes. Finding unique wedding theme ideas can be tricky if you don’t know where to start—and that’s where we come in! The professionals at De Luxe Banquet Hall put together this awesome list of the original wedding themes for your big day.

Our perfect wedding venue has all the space you need to bring your glamorous wedding themes to life.

Do I Need a Wedding Theme?

Do you even need a wedding theme? Not really. You have tons of other stuff on your plate planning a wedding, and you might not want the additional stress of planning a themed wedding.

However, a wedding theme is a great way to create a perfect setting and perfect backdrop that meshes with your personality. Moreover, unique wedding themes provide a way to entertain guests with a fun atmosphere.

Wedding Theme vs. Style

People use the terms themes and styles interchangeably, but they are different when it comes to a wedding. Themes are specific subjects or concepts that determine the general direction of the style of your wedding. On the other hand, wedding styles are related more to the direct aesthetic.

For example, you can have a themed wedding directly based on a rodeo, or you can have a more general rustic wedding style. Finding the right harmony between wedding themes and wedding styles is how you create a beautiful wedding you will remember for years.

Best Unique Wedding Theme Ideas

Below are some of the top unique wedding reception themes we have found across the wedding industry.

Rustic Theme

Original Wedding Themes

A rustic wedding theme is an excellent choice for an outdoor wedding and allows you to incorporate several fun additions. Decor elements for a rustic wedding can include string lights, mason jars, and bourbon-infused drinks. You can even get creative with an outdoor venue or even a farmhouse to complete the wedding theme.

Vintage Theme

Unique Wedding Themes

If you are a fan of the past decades, a vintage wedding theme is perfect for channeling the past. Art deco decorations provide a Great Gatsby look while the bridal party can put on their best flapper dresses. Vintage weddings feature a bold color scheme, with dramatic golds, blacks, and large, blocky lettering on wedding signs.

Modern Theme

Modern Wedding Theme

Sometimes the best theme is a classic modern wedding. Modern themes feature prominent colors and sleek, sharp lines in venue design. The bridal gown at a modern-themed wedding can borrow contemporary styles and colors to create a bold look.

Woodland Theme

Woodland Wedding Theme

If you are partial to nature, you can try a woodland-themed wedding. Wedding decor can take advantage of natural elements and incorporate copious amounts of green. You could also tie in sustainability themes and use eco-friendly wedding venue decor.

Festival Theme

Festival Wedding Theme

A festival is a nice alternative wedding theme that can create a magical wedding. You can add several festival decorations, like big tents, food booths, and even a cotton candy machine if you want to have even more fun. Festival wedding gifts could include handmade crafts or festival garb.

Royal Theme

Extravagant Wedding Themes

A royal wedding emulates the look and feel of being in a noble’s court, complete with coats of arms, jewelry, and a throne. A royal theme is one of our great extravagant wedding themes that really lets you show off your personal style with an amazing wedding gown.

Destination Theme

Destination Wedding Theme

A destination wedding is a perfect theme to capture the look and feel of a different country. Make sure you incorporate national colors in the ceremony backdrop, and you can also tweak the wedding dress to match the local culture.

Nautical Theme

Nautical Wedding Theme

A nautical theme represents the ocean and features wedding décor, including anchors, ropes, sails, and buoys. Nautical wedding themes are hugely popular even in places that are not near water.

Alternative Theme

Alternative wedding themes involve finding your unique style that might not fit into other categories of themes. You can get creative with the decorations, wedding cake, and clothing to make something that truly fits your and your spouse’s unique relationship.

How to Choose Wedding Themes

These unique wedding theme ideas are just suggestions, and it’s up to you to find the perfect wedding theme for your special day. Below are some tips on how to choose wedding themes.

  • Think about your wedding budget. Many people get too ambitious in picking out glamorous wedding themes and strain their budgets. Make sure your goals match your wallet. And remember, the venue will cost at least 30% of your total budget.
  • Think about your and your spouse’s interests. What things do you have in common? Do you share hobbies, or did you meet them because of some specific interest? The best wedding theme is one that is close and personal to both of you.
  • Consider how the venue can fit into your theme. For example, hotel ballrooms are great venues for vintage weddings, while farmhouses are ideal for rustic themes. Depending on the theme, you can get creative with what kind of venue you choose.
  • The season will also affect your decision on a wedding theme. If you want to have a rustic or nature theme, you shouldn’t plan your wedding for the fall or the winter.
  • How will the theme inform the dress code? For instance, a high-class formal dress code might be out of place at something like a festival-themed wedding. Make sure that themes and dress codes match the level of formality you want.
  • Don’t worry about getting the wedding theme absolutely perfect. After all, it’s your big event—as long as you are happy, that’s all that matters! The most important thing is that you feel your wedding matches your unique preferences.

A Guide To Getting Your Marriage License

If you’re newly engaged, the first thing on your mind is probably planning your wedding. But don’t forget about one of the most important aspects of getting married: getting your marriage license!

Here’s a guide to what you need to know in order to get your license and start planning your big day.

What Is A Marriage License?

Marriage License

A marriage license is a document that two people who want to get married obtain from a government official. This document is needed in order for the couple to be legally married.

The process of getting this license varies from country to country but typically does not require much.

In some countries, marriage licenses are available online, while in others, couples must appear in person to apply for a marriage license.

Once this is issued, the couple is then free to get married. After the ceremony, the officiant will sign the marriage license and submit it to the appropriate government authority, who will then issue a certified copy of the marriage certificate. In most cases, this license is valid for a specific period of time, after which it expires.

Some couples choose to get a marriage license as a way to solidify their commitment to each other, even if they are not necessarily planning to get married right away. Whereas others see it as a necessary step in the process of getting married.

Regardless of their choice, a marriage license is an essential part of getting married in the United States.

How To Obtain A Marriage License

Obtaining A Marriage License

Obtaining a marriage license is a fairly simple process, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you will need to be at least 18 years of age.

Second, you will need to have all the required documentation. This typically includes a birth certificate, photo ID or passport, and proof of residency.

Third, you will need to pay the required fees. These can vary depending on your state or province.

Finally, you will need to wait a specified period of time before the license is issued. The waiting period is typically three days, but it can be longer or shorter depending on the jurisdiction.

Applying for a marriage license may not be the most romantic part of getting married, but it is a necessary one.

The Requirements For Getting A Marriage License

Requirements For Getting A Marriage License

Love is in the air! Or at least it will be once you jump through a few hoops to obtain a marriage license. Every state has different requirements, but there are a few things that are generally required in order to obtain a license.

First, you will need to find a licensed officiant who is authorized to perform marriages in your state.

Then, you will need to fill out an application which will require some personal information like your full legal name, birthdate, and social security number. You may also need to provide proof of citizenship, residency, or age.

Once the application is complete, you will then submit it to the county clerk’s office along with the required application fee.

After fulfilling these requirements, you will receive your marriage license and be on the next step of your marriage journey!

How Much Does It Cost?

Couple Holding Marriage License

The cost of getting a marriage license may surprise you. In some states, the cost can be as low as $30, while in others it can be as high as $200. However, the average cost is about $100.

The reason for such a wide range in prices mainly has to do with the state in which you live in. Some states require couples to complete pre-marital counseling or attend a waiting period before they can obtain a license, while other states do not have as many procedural requirements.

As a result, the cost of a marriage license can vary significantly from one state to another. For example, the cost of obtaining a California marriage license is anywhere from $70 to $91.

So if you are planning on tying the knot, be sure to check with your state’s licensing requirements to find out how much it will cost you.

How Long Is A Courthouse Marriage License Valid For?

Courthouse Marriage License

Couples who are eager to tie the knot often ask how long a courthouse marriage license is valid for. The good news is that most are valid for 30 days. So if you tie the knot within a month of getting your license, you’re all set. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to wait 30 days to get married.

If you’re eager to walk down the aisle, there’s no law that says you can’t do it the same day you get your license. Just be sure to check with your local courthouse to find out their policy on same-day marriages. And in case you were wondering, there’s no need to hurry to the courthouse after your ceremony.

Your marriage license is automatically registered once your officiant signs and submits it. So take your time and enjoy being newlyweds.

What To Do If You Lose Your License Or If It Expires

Signing A Marriage License

If you lose your marriage license or it expires, there is no need to panic. There are a few simple steps you can take to replace it.

First, contact the court that issued your license. They will likely have a replacement form that you can fill out and submit. In some cases, you may also need to provide a copy of your ID or other documentation.

Once you have submitted the necessary paperwork, the court will issue a new license. If your marriage license has expired, you will need to go through the same process to obtain a new one.

In either case, it is best to plan ahead and apply for a replacement license well in advance of your wedding day to avoid any unnecessary stress.

So there you have it, everything you need to know about marriage licenses! If you are looking to get married in the near future, be sure to check out your state’s requirements and costs.

The process of obtaining a marriage license is usually pretty straightforward, but it’s important to allow enough time for all the paperwork to be processed so that your big day in an extravagant and elegant wedding venue runs smoothly.

The Ultimate Wedding Vendor Checklist For Your Big Day

Planning a wedding can be an extremely overwhelming task for some couples. Take some time to relax and enjoy your engagement with your partner before you start planning. You want a wedding that focuses on you both. Therefore, take some time to compromise and prioritize the mood and style you want to set for your wedding. The most crucial aspect of wedding planning involves hiring industry specific teams of experts for your specific vision. Deciding on vendors can all depend upon your budget, goals, location, and set date. Following a wedding vendor checklist is a good way to start looking for your top vendors.

Aside from choosing your venue, you have to prepare yourself of navigating through the difficulties or stresses of the day to day activities when selecting wedding vendors. The wedding pros at De Luxe Banquet Hall are here to help ease the process by providing this wedding vendor checklist that shows all the vendors you may need for a perfect successful wedding day.

Wedding Planner

The Ultimate Wedding Vendor Checklist For Your Big Day

Wedding planning can take a lot of your free time. Between your social life and a full time job, you might already be feeling like you don’t have any time at all. Therefore, the first step to your vendors checklist would be to hire a wedding planner. Hiring a wedding planner will allow you to be mostly hands off and ease the pressure from many of your responsibilities. They will help keep you organized, stay on budget, provide insider knowledge, inspire new ideas, and stay on track with your timeline.

Your wedding planner will help find or introduce you to many of the candidates on your wedding vendor list. Meanwhile, handling any hiccups along the way and ensuring that everything runs smoothly on your big day.

Photographer

The Ultimate Wedding Vendor Checklist For Your Big Day

If you want to ensure you have quality wedding photos to look back on for years to come, then it is highly recommended to hire a professional photographer. A wedding photographer should arrive in a timely fashion, know what crucial moments to look out for, and provide guidance when your posing for photos.

Videographer

Wedding Videography Vendor

Sometimes both photography and videography services are provided by the same individual or vendor. Although some couples opt out of hiring videography services, most end up regretting doing so. This is because you can relive the special day by seeing and hearing it rather than having just stills of special moments.

Its important to ask for samples of finished products because not every videographer is going to have the same style. For example, one might prefer to make a artistic styled video, while another prefers a documentary style.

Rental Company

Wedding Rentals

Depending on your venue and caterer you might need to rent such items like decorations, linens, tables, chairs, serving pieces, lounges, tents, dance floor, and photo booth.

Sometimes it may get overwhelming to go looking for such items from different rental companies. Therefore, stick with one rental company that has a majority of the items your looking for and can match with your wedding theme or color scheme.

DJ, Band, or Live Performance

Wedding Dj Vendor

A must have in the wedding vendor checklist is the DJ, band, or live performance. After going through all the planning process and tying the knot, both you and your guests will want to celebrate and party the night away at the reception venue. What better way than with great music that will keep the energy going. Whichever you choose, your professional entertainer should have great references and credentials.

Transportation Services

The Ultimate Wedding Vendor Checklist For Your Big Day

Depending on the wedding location and venue’s parking situation, you may have to hire transportation services. The transport might be for you, your wedding party, or even to pick up a few guests from their hotel rooms.

You can also arrange valet parking services if parking is hard to come by in the area or to ease the flow of traffic in the parking lot.

Stationer

Wedding Stationer

Your wedding planning process isn’t completed without preparing stationery items. Stationers should help you design the perfect look and style of the “save the date,” wedding invitations, RSVPs, place cards, menu cards, and guest book.

An experienced stationer should help you select the proper paper products and ensure that everything is sent out or set up in a timely fashion.

Caterer

Wedding Caterer

A must have on your vendors list is a good caterer to help keep you and your guests full and energized on the big day.

Select a caterer that will follow your desired plate presentation and menu items. A caterer will also advise you on the amount of food you’ll need based on the size of your guest list.

It’s important to note that some wedding venues will often times offer a wedding catering service as well. Going with this option might be more affordable and will give you one less thing to worry about during your planning process.

Cake Baker

Wedding Cake

Some caterers have wedding cake baking within their services. If for any reason they don’t offer it or you simply prefer to hire a separate cake baker, take your time and read up on customer reviews in Yelp.

Upon discovering the baker, make sure to visit them before ordering their cake for your wedding. Have an idea of your decorative style first and tell your baker what flavors your looking for when crafting the perfect wedding cake. Be sure to do some cake tasting to ensure that the cake tastes as good as it’s going to look.

Florist

Wedding Florist

A dream wedding is never complete without extravagant floral arrangements. Regardless of your personal style, florists can help enhance your entire venue.

Flowers can be used to decorate the aisle or as centerpieces on reception tables. A florist will work with you to select flowers that are in season and within your budget.

Jeweler

Wedding Rings

Your wedding bands are a critical part of your marriage or wedding ceremony. They symbolize the love you share with your spouse.

Search for a company that can be trusted and provide you with quality jewelry.

Hair and Makeup Artist

Wedding Makeup &Amp; Hair Artist

The last task in your vendors list is to hire a hair and makeup artist. Besides your dress, your wedding hairstyle and makeup should truly make you feel like royalty on your wedding day.

Hair and makeup might be done by the same artist. If not, look for those that can fulfill your needs and compliment your facial features.

Check between Pinterest and Instagram to draw inspiration from. You can also look at what kind of wedding hair accessory are often used or whether your idea in mind is a top trending wedding hairstyle . If you have a clear picture of what you want, you can easily find someone who will make it reality.

Consider Tipping Wedding Vendors

Tipping Box

Once you have found your desired wedding vendors you might be wondering if all of these wedding vendors will be expecting tips. As a general rule, tipping wedding vendors is not mandatory.

With that being said you or your guests will likely be tipping wedding vendors who provide service with staff, like valet or bartenders, rather than to the owner of a business. Its important to note that some vendors include gratuity in the contract.

Tipping truly depends on your preference and situation.

For example, wedding planners do not expect tipping, it is optional, depending on service. If the planner who went above and beyond or you received big discounts, offer 10% to 20% tip as a good reward.

Or lets say your hairdresser and makeup stylist did an outstanding job and you’ve been getting compliments from all directions. You might feel very happy and want to share your happiness and acknowledge the amazing work they have done so you consider tipping them.

If tipping is not an option due to budget constraints, remember a glowing review is just as great!

Wedding Vendor Searching

Wedding Vendor List

A good tip to finding a majority of your vendors is to ask your wedding venue for their own wedding vendor list. Most of the time they would give names that they were pleased with or vendors that are familiar with the venue from previous weddings. Other methods could include attending specialized events in the area or even contacting friends and family for recommendations. These can all certainly be good ways to start your search as you follow your wedding vendor checklist.

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Catering Service for Your Special Day

There’s nothing worse than having disappointed guests when it comes to the food for your wedding. On top of having a great wedding venue, an experienced catering service is important to satisfy your guests. You have so many options on what to include in your menu and service for your special day. Our team came up with these important factors you have to know before you choose that perfect wedding catering service.

After reading this article, we hope you have a clearer vision of what cuisine and service you want to showcase to your guests.

Why is a Catering Service Important For Your Wedding?

Catering Service Food

An event catering service is tremendously important in satisfying your guests and making your wedding perfect. When planning out a wedding of any kind, there is always food involved. You can’t have fun on an empty stomach, especially when celebrating a new chapter of your life.

Having a renowned catering service that gives you and your guests superior value should not be looked over. Make sure to sit down and really think about your options.

De Luxe Catering Experience

Our catering services will make sure to accommodate your guests of any size and work with your wedding vision. We have years of experience in planning fully customizable menus and delivering fantastic culinary service. Olivia Event Venue

From Mediterranian delicacies to American cuisine, De Luxe catering has you covered.

The Size of Your Wedding

Knowing the number of people that are going to attend your wedding is essential when deciding to choose an event catering service. If you’re having a large wedding venue with more than 300 people, it’s probably best to have a buffet-style wedding to fit everyone’s accommodations. Smaller and more intimate wedding venue gatherings can be best served with a family-style dining experience so they can feed themselves.

Olivia Event Venue

Whether it’s outside or in-house catering service, the number of people at the wedding will determine how much food will need to be made. It’s always a good idea to have extra servings of food, rather than running out before everyone is fed.

What Speciality Are You Looking For?

People Getting Food

Every catering service, whether that be from a vendor or in-house, has a specialty. Decide what type of food you would like to be on the menu for the reception. Pinpointing the exact type of culinary cuisine will help you decide the best option for catering.

After choosing your cuisine specialty that you would like to serve for your wedding, make sure to ask your in-house catering wedding venue if they specialize in that option. Some venues might offer a steep discount to their clients and offer extra incentives. It’s always a good idea to save money at a wedding.

In-house Catering vs Outside Vendor?

There are key differences when hiring an in-house catering service compared to an outside vendor. Here are some factors you need to think about choosing the right one.

In-House

When choosing this option, keep in mind that not every in-house catering is the same. Some venues are limited to the customization of their service, while others are more open. Make sure to talk with your wedding planner and schedule to have a conversation about the overall experience of hiring their in-house service.

As I mentioned before, in-house catering services can also be a way to save more money if the venue offers a packaged deal. Negotiating the price of renting the venue, can save you more money than hiring an outside vendor.

De Luxe Lounge Service

Another point of hiring the in-house service is that they work well together with the venue operations. There is more communication when the food will come out, where the tables are located, the seating arrangement style, and the overall theme of the wedding.

This will take more pressure off your plans since everything is getting planned out by the venue itself.

Outside Vendors

One of the best reasons to hire outside vendors is the options and specialties they have. Since specific catering services do it full-time, they put all their efforts into creating a niche menu that tastes great. You also have so many options in place when thinking about the type of food you want to serve.  There are literally thousands of catering services that you can choose from.

Food On Table

If you went to a wedding where you loved the food, you have the option of getting the same experience. Make sure to let your venue know if you are using an outside vendor as a catering service since this might include additional fees.

Although outside vendors might not pick perfectly when it comes to your wedding plans, it can be made up by their quality of food preparation. Hiring a professional and raved catering service will make sure you and your guests are satisfied with the delicious cuisine.

Customize Your Menu

Food On Plate

Choosing a specialty to feature on your menu does not mean that your job is done. Have a plan in place in what specific dish you want to be served as an appetizer, main course, and dessert. If you are looking for more of a family buffet style, think about the amount of food you want to serve and the balance you want in your dishes.

You don’t want to serve a buffet where it’s just mostly carbs. At the same time, you don’t want to have food that lacks protein. Think about what your guests would like and enjoy as they celebrate late through the night.

Finding the right balance of theme, options, and delicious tastes is important. Really think about what your overall vision is with your menu and write down a list of dishes that you surely want to have. Don’t let the stress of customizing your menu take up most of your time, let our experts help you in making sure your vision comes to life!

Schedule A Tasting Day

When your menu is fully customized and complete, make sure to schedule a taste test day to make sure everything is to your liking. Doing so will make sure you see everything before your special day. Look for topics like food appearance, theme vision, and overall taste when booking your appointment.

Chef Prepping Food

The clearer the vision you have for your event catering service, the better it will be for your wedding planners and venue to get exactly what you want. A tasting day is a great time to constructively critique the overall menu.

Remember not to be afraid to talk about your recommendations because it is your wedding.

Ask Your Friends and Family

Have you ever gone to an event or wedding and loved the food? Make sure to ask your friends and family for recommendations when it comes to choosing a catering event service for your wedding. This can narrow down your options and save you time in planning out your wedding.

Make sure to mention to the caterer your theme and overall vision for your wedding. If your friends and family have any connections in the industry, you can even receive a great deal out of it.

Conclusion

There you have it! Choosing the perfect event catering service for your wedding doesn’t have to be a stressful and time-consuming affair. Planning out and really creating your overall vision of your wedding is important. While you celebrate your new chapter of life, make sure you have some great food to go along with it. Great food makes for an unforgettable wedding day.

Your Guide To Planning A Beautiful, Sustainable Wedding

Real talk: the average wedding produces 400 pounds of trash and 63 tons of carbon dioxide. When you do the math with these statistics for the average amount of weddings per year (which is 2.5 million), you get roughly one billion pounds of trash, and as many carbon dioxide emissions as about four people would produce in a year…in one day. It’s time to get more eco-friendly, people. This is why a sustainable wedding is better for everyone.

More and more couples are making it a priority to plan and design their dream wedding with the environment in mind, which needed to happen from the beginning. If you’re engaged and looking for how to have a sustainable wedding, here are the best methods for reducing your carbon footprint without sacrificing style.

Wedding Waste GraphicImage: botanicalpaperworks.com

An Eco-Friendly Menu

Choosing local and/or organic foods that are in season will reduce the emissions involved with shipping food across the country, as well as support local farmers. The same goes for local breweries and wineries. Whether your wedding venue is providing the wedding meal, you’re hiring an outside caterer, or someone you know is providing the food, try your best to source organic, local, fair trade, and ethically-produced ingredients.

A Sustainable Cake

Be sure to ask your baker if they can source organic, local, fair trade ingredients for your wedding cake (including ethical eggs) and incorporate in-season, local fruits. Recycle and repurpose the cake “accessories” too, like ribbons and platters, or use natural elements.

Also consider ditching the wedding cake altogether in favor of a beautiful dessert table. This can often be much more sustainable than a cake that will end up being wasted.

A Secondhand Wedding Dress

Picture your dream wedding dress. Chances are, it already exists and has been worn before. “Secondhand” doesn’t have to mean outdated and dirty. In fact, many brides have discovered the beauty of pre-worn wedding dresses. A secondhand wedding dress — especially when vintage or antique — can be stunningly beautiful, unique, and perfectly made. Remember, many of these dresses were only worn once, and are practically new.

Click to enlarge these gorgeous secondhand wedding dresses:

Perhaps someone in your family would like to let you wear their wedding dress, so be sure to check out old photos to see if anything is to your taste.

Choosing a secondhand wedding dress is essentially recycling. Doing so reduces pollution by skipping the exhaustive manufacturing process. If you really think you can’t find a secondhand wedding dress that you like, do consider finding a designer that is fair-trade and eco-friendly, such as Silviyana.

Local, Organic Blooms

It’s not only food that is eco-friendlier when local. Flowers are also much more earth-conscious when used from local sources. Not all flowers are organic (chemicals are often used to get rid of insects), but it’s possible to find incredible vendors that use organic blooms to curate pretty, unique, pesticide-free bouquets and centerpieces. You can also look for local native flowers and plants to celebrate where you’re from and where your wedding is taking place.

You can also consider decorating with living plants (see: potted) and/or succulents for decoration, which some of your guests can take home.

Also be sure to choose a floral vendor who does not use floral foam; it’s horrible for the environment. It is not biodegradable and releases harmful chemicals if burned. Instead, use recyclable floral foam — or nothing at all.

One Venue

Consider hosting your wedding ceremony and the reception in the same wedding venue in order to cut down on emissions. This will also be more convenient for your wedding guests. Bonus points if your venue also has an on-site kitchen for the catering, as this will also cut down on emissions.

Cut Down On Printing

Don’t print out anything unless it’s absolutely necessary. In this day and age, everything can be digital anyway. Be sure to take advantage of services such as Zola or Evernote to organize your contracts, vendor research, to-do lists, and other paperwork digitally.

Dishes and Utensils

At De Luxe Banquet Hall, we often see couples and caterers use single-use plates, cups, napkins, and cutlery. It’s understandable to want something that’s easy to clean up, but you know what’s not easy to clean up? Our planet. All of those items will most likely end up in a landfill somewhere, so consider requesting sustainable, compostable, or reusable dishes, napkins, and cutlery from your catering company or venue. And no plastic straws! This also goes for any pre- or post-wedding events, such as bridesmaids brunches or the rehearsal dinner.

Rent Dishes And Linens

If your caterer or venue simply doesn’t provide sustainable/compostable/reusable dishes, napkins, and cutlery, consider renting these things from a specialty company. Just be sure to ask the rental company about their cleaning process, as some methods can be more harmful to the environment than others.

Decorate With Nature

Instead of lots of paper wedding décor or buying brand-new items, consider using completely natural elements to beautify your big day. Ideas such as leaf table cards, a greenery trellis, and tree log platters work fabulously.

Sustainable Wedding Leaf Name Cards For TableImage: etsy.com/shop/LaMiaCasa

Plantable Paper

Seed paper is a godsend. You can choose to print your wedding invitations, thank-you cards, table cards, signs, and anything else printable on this 100% biodegradable paper. Paper factories pollute the environment, and a crazy amount of paper is discarded each each year instead of being recycled.

Digital Invites

While seed paper is a great idea, you can also choose to send all of your save the dates and wedding invitations digitally. Paperless Post allows couples to choose what they want to be digital and what they would like to have printed (if anything). There’s even an option to print one keepsake printed invitation for you as a couple.

Eco-Conscious Printers

If you don’t want to go digital with your invites and seed paper isn’t an option (for whatever reason), select a very eco-conscious stationery brand, such as Ephemora, that does everything possible to reduce their carbon footprint while simultaneously providing gorgeous paper goods. This can mean the company uses recycled paper; paper made from properly managed forests; eco-friendly print methods; shipping using carbon offset credits, and printing locally.

No Wrapping

This one is pretty simple: on your gift registry, add a polite request that no gifts be wrapped — or, if they are wrapped, that they use eco-friendly wrapping paper.

Kegs Over Bottles

Bottles and cans, just clap your hands…or don’t! It’s bad enough that the bar will be using a lot of glassware at your wedding reception, but just think about the amount of bottles and cans that alcohol comes in. Don’t provide those little cans of wine and champagne; instead, stay with full-sized bottles. As for beer, consider choosing a keg (or kegs) over bottles. Just make sure that’s okay with your venue first.

Donate Or Compost Waste

One of the biggest contributors to wedding waste is leftover food and flowers. These often wind up in a landfill, but could very easily be composted or donated. Speak with your caterer or venue about where the leftover flowers and food go after the wedding, and if they don’t have a sustainable one, take it upon yourself to arrange a plan to either donate or compost it. Organizations such as Random Acts of Flowers accept donations of flowers and vases for health care facilities, and there are certainly plenty of homeless shelters that would accept the donated food.

Used Wedding Décor

If using nature as décor isn’t quite your thing, there are other options for sustainable wedding decorations. You can buy used wedding décor from a former bride, or borrow it if you know her. There is also a whole world of possibilities when you utilize thrift shops. You can find some truly unique, beautiful, and affordable decorations.

Reusing Décor

Did you know that your wedding décor can perform double duty? This not only contributes to a sustainable wedding plan; it also saves you money. For example, bridesmaid bouquets can become table centerpieces. A ceremony backdrop can become a photo booth backdrop. Chair florals that were at the ceremony can be moved to the reception to decorate the dessert or cake table. Try your best to find a second use for every décor item you use.

A Vegetarian Menu

Because meat is one of the top contributors to methane (one of the world’s most potent GHG gasses), couples should consider choosing a vegetarian menu for their wedding. This will greatly reduce the carbon footprint of the wedding, as well as slow down climate change. If this is too much for you, then at least aim for a menu that is 50% vegetarian.

Sustainable Beauty

The chemicals and artificial ingredients in some makeup and hair care products is outrageous. In addition to our health, these ingredients are also hazardous to the environment. For your sustainable wedding, be sure to ask your makeup and hair stylists what cruelty-free, zero-waste or locally-produced beauty products they can use. A great resource to use for information on this is Cruelty Free Kitty.

Your Guide To Planning A Beautiful, Sustainable Wedding

No Bottled Water

Plastic water bottles have a very high carbon footprint, and they typically go straight to a landfill, where they don’t degrade for decades. Instead, provide reusable cups and provide a refillable water container. (Bonus: this will also be much more visually appealing than a bunch of shiny water bottles peppering tables.)

Favors

Any wedding planner will tell you that, more often than not, wedding favors are left behind after the wedding. They end up being a huge waste, so be careful when (and if) you decide to provide wedding favors. If you really want to provide them to your guests, try to give things like plants, seeds, or something edible that will not get left behind. Also, be sustainable-minded when selecting the packaging.

Send-Offs And Surprises

We’ve all heard about the fireworks surprise, the balloon surprise, the floating lantern surprise, and sparkler send-offs. These are all certainly lovely and thrilling, but eco-friendly? Not so much. Balloons are terrible for the environment, as are fireworks and lanterns. Instead, think about using items such as biodegradable confetti or leaves.

Registry

Registries can be tricky, because it’s so easy to just go nuts and pick a ton of things. However, be very mindful when making your wedding registry. Think about whether the items you’re choosing have a negative impact on the environment, the waste from the packaging, the emissions from the shipping, and if you really need the item(s) or not.

When working on your wedding registry, consider requesting fair trade, eco-friendly items. The ABC Home Store is a fantastic option for sustainable home items. You can also register for things like gift cards or experiences to cut down on waste.

Reusable Signage

If you’re planning to have wedding signs for parking, hashtag announcement, reserved seating, or anything else, consider using multi-purpose sign options that can be re-used after the wedding, such as chalkboards or glass pieces that can be customized with markers or paint. Getting a new paper sign for everything you want to mark is extremely wasteful.

Your Guide To Planning A Beautiful, Sustainable Wedding

Once you begin planning a sustainable wedding, you won’t be able to stop the great ideas. Choosing even just some of these ideas will greatly reduce your wedding’s carbon footprint, and you may just set a shining example for others. How To Find The Best Wedding Planner For Your Big Day

There’s something that engaged couples realize very quickly: planning a wedding is a lot of work. As in, hundreds of hours of planning for the average ceremony and reception. Because of this, when many couples sit down to actually begin the organizing, budgeting, and scheduling, they can become pretty overwhelmed — and this is exactly why the services of a good wedding planner are so often required.

A talented wedding planner can help put together your wedding budget; they have relationships with wedding vendors and venue; they can source quotes, deal with suppliers, and they can take care of hundreds of other details that you may have never even thought of. In short, a good wedding planner equals peace of mind.

But how do you go about finding the best wedding planner for your big day? When there are so many to choose from, how do you know you’re hiring the exact right person for your specific wedding? Take a look at these must-do tips in order to find the best wedding planner for you.

Love Their Portfolio

This one is obvious, but it’s worth mentioning: you need to love the work of the wedding planner you’re considering.

Check out their website or photos of weddings they’ve planned. Does it match your expectations and taste? Does it look similar to what you want your wedding day to look like?

Don’t settle. Make sure that before you meet with a wedding planner that he or she has the level of talent you want.

Meet With Them In Person

Initially, it will probably begin with a phone call or email. But because your wedding planner will play such an important role for your ceremony and reception, it’s an absolute must to meet with him or her in person before hiring.

After you’ve done your research by checking out their work online and reading their reviews, if you feel like they’ll be a good match for you, reach out and ask for a meeting.

Meeting him or her in person will help give you a sense of their personality, communication, passion, and work ethic. You’ll know after the meeting if you and the potential wedding planner mesh well or not, which is a critical trait.

Make Sure You Connect Well

Don’t underestimate how important it is to actually like your wedding planner and connect with them. Besides loving their work and meshing well, you should also respect them, like them, and be able to communicate comfortably with them.

This is the person you’ll be entrusting one of the biggest days of your life to, so hire someone who you get along well with on both a professional and personal level.

Make Sure They Understand Your Vision

If you have a specific vision or theme for your wedding, this is something you need to discuss during the very first meeting with your potential wedding planner. Whether it’s a simple color palette or a huge, ambitious theme, you’ll need to know that he or she feels comfortable and confident taking it on. Explain exactly what you want (photo references are helpful), and be up front about everything you’ll require.

You Need To Like Their Answers

Before you go into your face-to-face meeting, write a list of questions to ask. Making a list will ensure you don’t forget anything you need to know. Once you get into the meeting and begin asking questions, it’s important that you feel comfortable with their answers.

For example, if you ask “What’s your backup plan if you get sick and can’t make it to my wedding?” and he or she answers, “Oh, I won’t get sick!”, that’s a red flag. Everyone gets sick, and the best wedding planners have a backup strategy.

Or if you ask about weather emergency plans, or traffic emergency plans, and you dislike their answer, move on to the next wedding planner on your list.

Make Sure Your Wedding Will Be Unique

If your wedding “standing out” is important to you, look for a wedding planner who has a wide variety of style and detail in their work.

If you go through a planner’s website and every wedding they’ve done looks the exact same (or has the same wedding vendors each time), you may want to find someone who adapts more to each unique couple’s tastes.

How To Find The Best Wedding Planner For Your Big Day

Agree On The Pricing Structure

During your first meeting with your potential wedding planner, you need to go ahead and talk money. Getting this covered early on will help you know if this is the right person for your wedding.

Each couple and wedding planner are different. Some couples want a wedding planner for only a few things, such as handling the vendors. Other couples want a wedding planner to do literally everything, including the budget, choosing the venue, helping with the seating arrangement, etc.

Because of this, there are different fees and structures. It’s important that once you’ve established what the wedding planner will be doing, you both agree on the pricing structure. This could be any of the following:

  • A flat fee
  • A base fee, plus extra charges depending on expenses
  • An hourly rate

It’s essential to be up front with your potential wedding planner when it comes to the pricing structure in order to ensure that everyone is happy.

Be Comfortable With The Contract

Contracts aren’t the most fun part of anything, but they are extremely important. Be sure that once you’ve decided you like a certain wedding planner that you read very carefully through their contract. Even if you love their work and you get along, you need to agree with what is included in the contract.

A few things that the best wedding planners’ contracts include are:

  • The wedding planner’s complete fee and payment schedule
  • Backup plan if he or she can’t come to the wedding
  • His or her total, itemized responsibilities as the wedding planner
  • Wedding date, time, and location
  • Cancellation and refund policy

If for any reason the wedding planner gets flaky or turns out to be terrible, you’ll want this contract on hand.

Paperwork

We sincerely hope that this article helps you find the best wedding planner for your ceremony and reception! Besides the person you’re marrying, the wedding planner may just be the most important person in your life for the next several months! Just kidding, but they are important. 10 Honorary Bridesmaid Gifts That Will Be Loved

10 Honorary Bridesmaid Gifts That Will Be Loved

If you’re currently planning your wedding and you’ve decided to appoint honorary bridesmaids, you may be wondering if you should get them honorary bridesmaid gifts — and if so, what would be the right thing.

Here we’ll take a look at some great ideas for your honorary girls.

What Is An Honorary Bridesmaid?

Before we get into honorary bridesmaid gifts, let’s discuss exactly what this role is.

First of all, it’s important to be aware that it’s actually kind of a controversial topic. Why? Because while some people would be flattered when asked to be an honorary bridesmaid, others are offended because they feel they aren’t “good enough” to be included as a “real” bridesmaid. So if you’re planning on asking individuals to be an honorary bridesmaid, be sure to consider their personality. Will they be happy or not about your invitation to this position?

Where Does The Honorary Bridesmaid Come From?

Traditionally, an honorary bridesmaid was a family member such as an aunt or cousin who was important to the bride, but not necessarily a super close friend.

This person would be honored with a mention in the program, a corsage, perhaps a special duty like a reading or song, and would be expected to help out during the day. She would also be invited to the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and showers, but not the bachelorette party. She would also not be expected to get a bridesmaid dress.

Today, the term “honorary bridesmaid” is more loose. It has become basically anyone whom the bride wants to be included, but not too included.

Duties can range from everything to nothing at all. The honorary bridesmaid is sometimes given to little girls to make them feel special, or to friends who have fallen out of touch, or perhaps to a bride’s new sister-in-law who she may not be especially close to.

Every situation is different.

10 Honorary Bridesmaid Gifts That Will Be Loved

To Be Or Not To Be An Honorary Bridesmaid

Because some people do get quite offended when asked to be an honorary bridesmaid, we recommend playing it safe. Here’s the lowdown on who you should and shouldn’t ask to be an honorary bridesmaid:

Friend – Shouldn’t. No matter how sweet you think you’re being to “include” this person, skip it. You’re basically telling them that they did not make the cut. Either invite that friend to be in the bridal party, or don’t.

Aunt – Should. This is actually traditional, and your aunt will love the honor. She is most likely completely outside of your friend group, and therefore won’t expect to be a bridesmaid.

Co-worker – Shouldn’t. It’s awkward, even if you’re buddies. Just invite her as a guest.

Cousin – Should. This one comes with a condition. It’s really only a good idea to make a cousin an honorary bridesmaid if you haven’t asked any other cousins to be a “real” bridesmaid, and if you’re not super close with her. If you’re extremely close, she should probably be a bridesmaid.

New sister-in-law – Depends. This one will have to be determined on a situational basis. You may be crazy about your sister-in-law-to-be, but don’t necessarily want her included at your bachelorette party. Or maybe you do! Or, you may not really like her. Sometimes “honorary bridesmaid” is the perfect role for a new sister-in-law, and sometimes it’s a terrible idea. This decision will have to be made by you and your future spouse.

Okay, What About Honorary Bridesmaid Gifts?

Now that we’ve established what an honorary bridesmaid is, why they can be controversial, and what may be considered rude, we finally come to what makes a good honorary bridesmaid gift.

First of all, understand that you don’t need to get an honorary bridesmaid any gift. However, if you want to, here are some good ideas.

Initial Necklace

A tasteful initial necklace or other piece of jewelry is always a lovely gift. Of course, you should consider if the individual you’re asking is a “jewelry person” first, but typically this honorary bridesmaid gift goes over very well.

A Nice Dinner

Whether you decide to have your honorary bridesmaid(s) over for a dinner you cook yourself or take them out to a nice restaurant, this is a very nice gesture that they will truly appreciate.

Cozy Slippers

Even if your honorary bridesmaid(s) already has slippers, chances are she will love a nice new pair.

Mini Spa Gift Set

This will look (and probably sounds) fancy, but with a price tag of about $14 like this one from Zaaina, it’s not too harsh on your wallet.

An Orchid Or Plant

A beautiful plant always makes a wonderful honorary bridesmaid gift because it continues to give by bringing beauty and positive energy into the space where it lives. Besides this, it’s a visual reminder of your friendship.

Ring Holder

When it comes to honorary bridesmaid gifts, practicality is always appreciated. If your honorary girl(s) wear rings, this is a good one that helps keep their rings from getting lost. You can even go a step further and have the ring holder customized for them.

Turbie Twist

We love to recommend a Turbie Twist for gifts all the time because they. Are. Amazing. If you’ve never heard of it, a Turbie Twist is a super-absorbent “towel” — only it’s better than a towel — that is smaller and stays very secure on the head. No, we don’t work for Turbie Twist; we just love them. We’ve seen this gift given at many of our events, and it stands out as one that ladies (and long-haired men) love!

Gourmet Tea Gift Set

If your honorary bridesmaid loves tea, this is a true treat. Luxury tea gift boxes like this one from Harney & Sons will delight her, and she will think of you with each cuppa she enjoys.

Personalized Compact Mirror

Another practical honorary bridesmaid gift, a personalized compact mirror will be treasured. What lady wouldn’t love this tasteful expression of gratitude?

A Hand-Written Letter

If you want to provide honorary bridesmaid gifts but you’re on a tight budget, a sweet, hand-written letter to your honorary bridesmaid(s) on lovely stationery would be a very meaningful gift that they would cherish. A letter will give you the opportunity to open your heart and let her know exactly how you feel about her, and how important she is to you.

Honorary Bridesmaid Gifts - Handwritten Letter With Purple Flowers And Pen

We sincerely hope that this list helps if you’re giving honorary bridesmaid gifts. Remember that if you’re having multiple honorary bridesmaids, you don’t even have to give them matching gifts. Pick and choose what suits each personality in order to make everyone feel appreciated. Good luck! And if you’re still looking for your Los Angles wedding reception hall, consider us at De Luxe! Trending Wedding Hairstyles For 2019 From Bridal Fashion Week

Updated April 1, 2019

Just as exciting as the dresses and makeup seen during Bridal Fashion Week is the hairstyles. What the top designers in the fashion industry are choosing to do for bridal hair always sets the stage for every bride in the world for the year.

Here are some of our favorite bridal hairstyles for 2019, straight from the runways.

2019 Bridal Hair Trends - Flowers In HairImages (L-R): Yumi Katsura design via IMAX tree | Elie Saab

Sprinkled-In Flowers

Brides have been wearing flowers in their hair ever since, well, there have been brides. However, runways this season saw a different take on traditional hair florals. Rather than the typical flower hair combs that we have come to associate with brides, 2019 will be brimming with carefully-placed flowers which sprinkle the hair.

This look is quite sweet and just a little bit hippie, and works beautifully with hair worn down and natural.

2019 Bridal Hair Trends - Long BowsImages (L-R): Taylor Jewell | Serichai Traipoom

Trailing Bows

Bows have been absolutely everywhere on the runways for 2019. From the bejeweled bows of Reem Acra to the giant bows in Watters’ models hair to the oversized bows incorporated into designs from Carolina Herrera and Viktor & Rolf, respectively, there was no shortage of knots.

But the most buzzed-about bows have been Lela Rose’s feminine, flowing ribbon bows which held up sleek ponytails and elegant buns. The length of these bows (about five feet) adds to the sheer chicness of the overall bridal look.

2019 Bridal Hair Trends - Meghan Markle Tendrils Images (L-R): Feather + North | Morilee by Madeline Gardner

Tendrils

This trend is thanks to the Duchess of Sussex herself, Meghan Markle. Her reception tendrils won the hearts of many, and bridal beauty was instantly born. Of course, tendrils popped up all over the runway, along with many other Markle inspirations.

Engaged ladies are thrilled to experiment with tendrils, which were huge in the late 1990s. This style is versatile: it can be dressed very up, or very down. Meghan chose the latter.

2019 Bridal Hair Trends - Hair Bouquets Reem Acra Runway Images (L-R): Wtoo by Watters | Reem Acra

Hair Bouquets

Nearly all of Reem Acra’s bridal runway designs for spring 2019 featured floral-topped models, a visually dazzling concept that had everyone talking, as did Alejandro Resta designs at Barcelona Bridal Week.

Similar to Coachella flower crowns yet much more bridal, hair bouquets are only becoming more elegant. For fashion-forward brides only, this look is both striking and sweet.

The Flat Half-Up

Half-up hairstyles are a long-standing bridal staple, but typically they are paired with voluminous curls, flowers, or a veil.

2019’s trend for the classic half-up hairstyle is to strip it down to simplicity. Many half-up hairstyles have been left alone, with no accessories at all—and even those that did incorporate a little glitz were still very minimal, like the pearls seen above.

This style is elegant and very chic, and allows more attention to be focused onto the dress and jewels.

White Hairbands

Worn in the absence of a veil, white hairbands have been all over the place in 2019 bridal fashion shows. These classic accessories are simple yet extraordinarily girlish and sweet—making the ideal bridal hair accessory for both no-fuss brides and those who have complex hairstyles.

Trending Wedding Hairstyles For Spring 2018 From Bridal Fashion Week

First published May 15, 2017:

We are absolutely in love with the ultra-feminine, low-fuss hairstyles that were trending at Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2018 this month. The entire feel of the season’s designs reflect romance, tradition, and femininity, and the hairstyles on the runway went beautifully hand-in-hand with this concept. While the obvious trend for 2018 is keeping it long and flowing, there are a few standout updos.

These wedding hairstyles are gorgeous, and they each have the ability to never look dated—so if you decide on one of them for your own ceremony, you certainly won’t need to be concerned about having regrettable hair in your wedding album several years from now.

Here are the most stunning wedding hairstyles and hair accessories from Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2018.

Bridal Week Spring 2018 - Side Swept HairSide Swept

If you’re looking for a wedding hairstyle that allows you to keep your hair down while still looking elegant, try these Hollywood-inspired side swept waves. Timeless and flattering, this look pairs particularly well with a gauzy veil, as we saw on the runway Reem Acra.

Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2018 - PonytailLow & Wavy Pony

Romantic and youthfully chic, this ponytail gives the impression of demure purity. For an extra lovely touch, tie up your pony with a sweet ribbon, as we saw from Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta. One that is old, new, borrowed, or blue, perhaps?

Bridal Fashion Week 2018 - TiarasUnique Tiaras

Tiaras are jewelry for your hair, and Bridal Fashion Week did not disappoint in this area. Rime Arodaky, Naeem Khan, and Alon Livné all showcased stunning, otherworldly tiaras this year. If you want to look like a princess for your ceremony, consider a hair accessory like this to highlight your bridal look.

Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2018 - Half Up BraidA New Take On Half-Up

Besides beautiful low ponytails, Marchesa also gave us this pretty style. Delicate and easy, this look frames the face with soft parallel Dutch braids which crown a classic half up. Very fairytale, very sweet: the ideal wedding hair to go with a romantic gown.

Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2018 - Sleek HairstyleSexy Sleek

Release your inner Kardashian with this long, silky style that never fails to emote the height of fashion. Not only sophisticated, this style also requires little maintenance and creates easy, no-fuss bridal hair. Presented beautifully by Sachin & Babi, this style also shows off statement earrings that were also spotted all over the runways this year.

Bridal Fashion Week - Vintage VeilsVintage-Inspired Veils

We’re completely smitten with this year’s entire collection from Lela Rose, but her vintage-inspired wedding veils stole the show. Echoing the unforgettable glamour of the 1940s and 1950s, these birdcage veils capture the grace and style that every bride should radiate.

Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2018 - Jenny PackhamMermaid Hair

Jenny Packham’s sensational collection was enhanced by her models keeping their hair loose-flowing and natural. While many brides may want impeccable hair on their wedding day, those with a more laid-back style might prefer free-spirited mermaid hair. It’s just as romantic, and has the advantage of being extremely low-key to manage.

Kelly Faetanini Bridal Fashion Week 2017Soft Up-Dos

Of course, the classic wedding style of hair swept away from the face will always be a bridal favorite. This year, instead of the same old dull styles that tend to bring the prom to mind, or the too-wet look of the past, we saw effortless-looking updos on the runway from Kelly Faetanini. Each style was bohemian-soft, yet extremely chic.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

For just about every experience you have, most likely there’s always something you wish you could change or do differently. Hindsight is 20/20 for a reason, and it always seems to be crystal clear what you should have done once it’s all over. Wedding planning is no different, and all of the time in the world can’t prepare you for what you might miss the mark on. Here we’ve put together some great advice from newlywed couples who have gone through the wedding process and learned from their experiences.

Don’t Feel Rushed To Get Married

Whether you’re working a lot, going to school, or are trying to save up money, there are many reasons to hold off on getting married right away. Don’t feel pressured into having a quick engagement, because there are no rules about how long an engagement should be. Every couple is different. Many have chosen to have years-long engagements for the sake of ensuring they have plenty of time to plan exactly what they want for their wedding.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

“We took three years to plan our wedding and make sure the timing was right,” says Ani Garabedian of Los Angeles. “I was getting my cosmetology license and my husband was working constantly because he’s a lawyer. We wanted to be engaged and start the wedding planning process, but it was also important to us to not feel rushed into a half-planned wedding day.”

Start Planning Early

Hear this now: wedding vendors get booked up fast! When it comes to getting those special details, it’s never too early to book your band, baker, photographer, makeup artist, florist, whatever. If you wait too long to reach out to the vendor you want to help make your wedding day amazing, they may not be available on your date and you’ll have to go with your second (or third or fourth) option.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

“We waited to book our live wedding band until two months before our wedding,” says Paula Hollingsworth of Pasadena. “I thought that would be plenty of time, but I was shocked to learn that they were booked solid for an entire year. My heart was broken because they had played at all of my sisters’ weddings. The band we ended up with was okay, but they weren’t my first choice. I would definitely recommend booking your band as soon as you know who you want.”

The Time Spent Planning Is Worth It

Don’t feel ashamed to invest your time and energy on wedding planning. You’re not just “planning a party”; you’re investing in one of the most important and meaningful days of your life that should truly reflect you and your fiancé(e). If you start to convince yourself that wedding planning is silly or a waste of time, don’t. You may even look back and wish you had taken it even more seriously. Take the time to make it personal, and remember that the time spent planning is well worth it.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

“Planning our wedding was a huge amount of work,” says Lily Wilkerson of Los Angeles. “It took me so much time, but on our wedding day, it was all worth it because we knew that everything we’d chosen, every unique detail and choice, represented our love and relationship. We were very proud of ourselves.”

Don’t Keep Changing Things

Once you know what you want and you’ve booked your vendors, it’s important to avoid going down the path of thinking, “What if I did it this way instead?” or “What if that other vendor was actually better?” Overthinking every detail and second guessing yourself once things are booked is not what you want to end up doing. In order to avoid this but still have exactly the vendors you want, do plenty of research and think every decision over carefully for awhile before signing contracts and booking people. Don’t rush into anything, and really study your options.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

“I feel so horrible now, looking back,” says Rebecca Graystone of Santa Monica. “I would choose flowers, meet with the florist, then change my mind about everything because I would suddenly want a different color palette. My problem was I’d get so excited and book someone before I put in the proper amount of time checking out inspiration boards and magazines. It’s tough because you don’t want to wait too long to book, but you also need to make sure you’re booking the vendor that you like more than any others.”

Make Planning Special

Wedding planning can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. If you’re doing your wedding planning with your fiancé(e), make it a relaxing date night situation. Open a bottle of wine (or your favorite drink to share) and decide on final details like the music for the ceremony and special dances. You will look back on these special dates, and you’ll be happy you took the time to make the planning a special moment between you and your soon-to-be spouse.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

“My husband did NOT like wedding planning, but it was really important to me that he had a voice throughout the process,” says Christie Yi of Los Angeles. “I wanted to make sure that the wedding reflected his tastes, too. So when we would plan together, I would make his favorite dinner and then we’d play Scrabble afterwards, because it’s his favorite game. Those nights actually ended up becoming some of our best dates.”

Have A “Getaway Activity”

Whether you’re doing your wedding planning with your fiancé(e) or not, it’s very important to take breaks with a getaway activity every once in awhile. Wedding planning can get busy, overwhelming, and can pull you in many directions when dealing with planners, vendors, and family and friends. Be sure to schedule a specific time each week where you don’t do any planning or even think about it. It can be as simple as going for a run or hike, bowling, or watching a movie in the theater.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

“I got so crazy when planning our wedding that I began making weekly appointments to get a massage,” says DiDi Malla of Hollywood. “Doing that helped calm me down so much. I could turn off my brain and just relax for a minute.”

Be Open-Minded

Although you probably have very specific ideas in mind about what you want for your wedding, it’s important to keep your fiancé(e) in mind as well. From the beginning of the planning process, prepare yourself to accept that he or she may have their own ideas, and that you’ll most likely need to compromise. Your wedding a reflection of the both of you together and your unique relationship.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

“My husband wanted all his groomsmen to wear Guardians of the Galaxy socks,” says Marina Grady of Santa Monica. “I did not want that. However, I could see that it was really important to him, so I didn’t fuss too much. He got his way, and I got my live mariachi band.”

Enjoy This Special Time

Planning a wedding can be a very special process to go through with your fiancé(e). It’s often one of the first times that a couple truly learns what it’s like to plan together, make important decisions, and compromise. It can really help you grow and progress as a couple.

8 Important Wedding Planning Tips From Newlyweds

“We fought. We cried. We laughed,” says Rachel Ryley of Los Angeles. “The wedding planning process wasn’t easy for either of us. But in the end, we loved our wedding and realized how much we’d done and gotten through together. I actually wouldn’t trade it.”

Breakdown Of The Royal Wedding Night Reception

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you may have heard about the royal wedding. That’s right, Prince Harry finally got married to his beautiful bride, American actress Meghan Markle. Obviously these two were dressed to perfection, and we’ve got the breakdown of the royal wedding night reception right here.

First things first: check out that absolutely gorgeous rock on Meghan’s finger. She wore this ring as she and Prince Harry headed off to the royal wedding night reception at the Frogmore House. Her ring is an aquamarine Asprey cocktail ring which belonged to Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana, and was meant to be that “something blue” that some brides like to incorporate into their wedding. We think this is a beautiful way for the prince to honor his mother at the wedding. It’s all in the little details.

After the wedding ceremony, the new Duchess of Sussex slipped into a stunning white halter-neck fishtail gown which was designed by Stella McCartney, daughter of Sir Paul McCartney. The dress was a perfect decision by Meghan—it showed just the right amount of skin by showing off her toned shoulders and arms. Just the right type of dress for the royal wedding night reception!

Celebrity Guests At The Royal Wedding Night Reception

A post shared by Serena Williams (@serenawilliams) on

Let’s take a look at some of the celebrities that were on hand to celebrate the royal wedding. Tennis superstar Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, were on hand to show their support for the royal couple. The two switched outfits before heading to the royal wedding night reception. Williams switched out of her formal blush-colored dress and into a dress more suited for a nighttime party. Her dress sports a black upper with a flower print skirt: a nice touch of formal, with a sprinkle of party. Ohanian elected to do the same with his outfit, switching from a suit to a tuxedo. He went with a classy black and white option. And nice touch with the bow tie!

Actor Idris Elba—known most notably from HBO hit television show The Wire—and his fiancé, Sabrina Dhowre were also in attendance at both the ceremony and then later on at the reception. Dhowre wore a Gucci outfit with a Vivien Sheriff hat. According to some guests, Elba decided to show off his DJ skills halfway through the night and spun some electronic music.

Musician Elton John was also in attendance for both the ceremony and later at the night reception. According to the Daily Mirror, Prince Harry asked if anyone could play the piano, and that’s when John stepped up and played four of his songs, including “Circle of Life”, “Tiny Dancer”, “Your Song”, and “I’m Still Standing”. What a thrilling moment to have the one and only Elton John perform at their reception!

Former Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham and her husband, soccer star David Beckham, also graced everyone with their presence at the ceremony and night reception. Both dressed very formally for the ceremony, as you can see here. David wore a formal three-piece suit, and even went the extra mile with the pocket watch you can see dangling from his vest—a nice little traditional touch!

Let’s Talk About The Venue: The Frogmore House

The royal wedding night reception took place at the Frogmore House, which is located approximately one mile from Windsor Castle. The reception was for 200 of Harry and Meghan’s closest friends and family.

Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of photos from inside the reception, as according to the Daily Mirror, guests were asked for to turn in their phones.

To get a better idea of the wedding venue, you can watch this video of the stunning Frogmore House and its grounds:

What an absolutely stunning place to hold the royal wedding night reception! There was likely no second choice, but the Frogmore House definitely fits our criteria for what to look for in a wedding venue. From the stunning grounds to the luxurious inside space, it truly hits the mark. We want to congratulate Harry and Meghan on their wedding and wish them a wonderful and healthy life together!

What Are The Most Popular Wedding Catering Trends?

What wedding catering trends are taking center stage in 2017? The common theme seems to be matching. Matching the couple to the food; matching the location to the food, and matching drinks with food. Here are the biggest trends we’re seeing in wedding catering this year.

A Variety Of Pairings

For cocktail hour (or cocktail receptions), a wedding catering trend that’s begun taking off is to offer guests not just champagne or a few classic cocktails, but rather a variety of mini-pairings. This can include margaritas with salsa, wine and pasta, mimosas and pastry, or craft beer and gourmet doughnuts. This trend is gaining momentum because it offers guests more options, and it’s so much more interesting than the simple wine-and-cheese route.

What Are The Most Popular Wedding Catering Trends?

Go Local

Wherever you decide to get married, ask your wedding caterer about what foods will be in season for your wedding day, and what the local specialty is. Consider having this for your wedding meal. Why? Because when the local food specialty is at its peak, you’ll see why the area became known for it.

What Are The Most Popular Wedding Catering Trends?

Customized Menus

Your wedding day is (hopefully) all about you as a couple—so shouldn’t your wedding catering reflect you as much as possible? This can mean a few things. For one, the wedding catering you choose can represent your culture. And if you and your fiancée are from different countries, it can be fun to mix the two for some unique cuisine options (like Mediterranean and Italian)! Or, perhaps you and your fiancée want the wedding catering to reflect where you first met or fell in love—for example, if you met in New Orleans, the catering could be jambalaya, soufflé potatoes, shrimp remoulade, and beignets. Or you could simply choose to have your wedding catering be your favorite type of food. Think of your old favorites, and consider having that on your wedding day. Shouldn’t everything be your favorite on your wedding day? A good wedding caterer should offer customizable menus for the bride and groom—especially since more and more couples are requesting it.

His-And-Her Cocktails

An old tradition that’s come roaring back, serving his-and-her drinks to guests is timeless and sophisticated. The bride and groom select their cocktails, and those (along with wine and beer) are the only cocktails that wedding guests are offered. This is a popular choice for couples because it cuts down on the liquor budget, since they will only need to purchase what’s used in the two cocktails. Some couples are even taking it a step further and creating a singular “signature cocktail” with their new last name. This is the same concept, only with one cocktail instead of two.His-And-Her-Signature-Cocktails

Late-Night Catering

All that dancing is going to make your guests hungry—again! Anyone who’s ever stayed late at a wedding reception knows that people start getting peckish the later it gets. Lots of couples are now arranging for their favorite food truck to swing by the reception, but this can get expensive. There are other options to feed your hungry loved ones, including grilled cheese dippers, soup shooters, or a pizza bar.

Wedding Catering - Food Truck

Your wedding day’s customization shouldn’t end with the dress and flowers. Everything should reflect you on your big day—including the wedding catering! When it comes to what you’ll eat on the most important day of your life, it should be a menu that you’re head over heels in love with. At De Luxe Banquet Hall, our catering specialists work with you to create a menu that reflects who you are. We also proudly offer one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Los Angeles. Take a look at our photo gallery and everything else we have to offer, and please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Different And Dazzling Wedding Entertainment Ideas

Every couple wants their wedding to be fun and memorable, but sometimes the options for wedding entertainment for the reception can seem a bit stale and out of date. Photo booth? DJ? Slideshow of the couple’s lives since childhood? …Yawn. Haven’t these all been a bit overdone?

Why not spice up the reception and add some truly unique and fun wedding entertainment to the mix? You can still have your DJ if you really want—but with these excellent novelties, your wedding will be a spectacle to be remembered forever.

Here are a few ideas to entertain your guests at a truly unforgettable wedding reception.

Champagne Dresses

These servers are fun, playful, and practical—everyone wants champagne at a wedding, right? There are also strolling table dresses available that can present nearly anything at your reception, as well as cocktail napkin dresses and wine tricycles.Unique Wedding Entertainment - Strolling Champagne Dress

Contortionists

This may sound a little circus-like, but contortionists are very entertaining for guests to watch as they’re chatting or having a drink. Contortionists are unique and beautiful to watch, and will make for quite the captivating curiosity during your reception.

Contortionist Performing

Sketch Artists

One of our favorite ideas for wedding entertainment! Not only is this concept unique, it also creates instant party favors—plus, you’ll have a literal storybook of your wedding day and guests. A collection of illustrations from your big day can make for an outstanding wedding memento, and having an illustrator who can create sketches on-site at your wedding will delight everyone there. These sketches will be great for you or your guests to have forever as a memory of your wedding day.

Different And Dazzling Wedding Entertainment Ideas

Live Dancers

There’s nothing like seeing a professional dance routine performed right in front of your eyes. Exhilarating, fun to watch, and full of pizzazz, the right dance number from any type of performers—from romantic flamenco dancers to festive Irish dancers—can bring the crowd together and be exciting for everyone. You can select a style of dance that represents anything from your heritage to a film you both love. Or, if you prefer, you can hire a few dancers to simply choreograph more low-key numbers to live music from a band.

Hispanic Dancers For Wedding Entertainment

Actors/Friends to Portray Your Love Story

This is a growing trend that is always a crowd-pleasing show-stopper. Whether you decide to use professional local actors or just grab a couple of your friends, having you and your partner’s love story acted out for your guests—from your initial meeting up until the wedding day—is guaranteed to be funny, touching, and very memorable.

Bottom Half Bride And Groom
Scavenger Hunt

Even if this ends up just being wedding entertainment for the kids, it’s still a different and engaging reception activity. The list of items can even be wedding-themed. A small prize (or prizes, if it’s a team) can be awarded to the winner(s) if you choose. This is becoming more and more of a popular wedding reception activity, and is a must if you happen to be a highly-competitive bunch.

I-Spy-Wedding-Game-Card

With a little creative planning, your wedding reception can be a blast for everyone. There’s nothing wrong with traditional stand-bys like a live band or fads like a photo booth, but if you’re a couple that enjoys things to be a little out of the ordinary, consider something a step above the regular run-of-the-mill reception ideas.

If you’re looking for a wedding venue that’s as unique as your wedding entertainment, consider De Luxe Banquet Hall in Los Angeles. We can accommodate large parties for a big, extra-fun wedding. For any questions you may have about booking, availability, or pricing, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!
